This was an initiative by the Foundation team at Croydon University Hospital to welcome their new Foundation Year 1 doctors. They wanted to welcome them in a special way and to make them feel valued and welcome. Each doctor received a gift bag with the following items:

Welcome to Croydon! We are extremely happy to have you here to join our family. Croydon is a wonderful place to work and we hope that you have an equally wonderful time. 

It is important for us from the outset to let you know that you as an individual are important to us, not just because you are providing care to patients (although that clearly does play a part), but because we recognise that you are more than a clinician. You bring with you your hopes and dreams and we truly value that. We want your time at Croydon to be something that you will always value, no matter where you are during the rest of your career.

Life can have its challenges – both at home and work. Remember that there is always a broad network of support available to you.

We hope that in this environment you will take the opportunity to grow, to reach further than you have before, to stand up and be counted for the amazing things you will do. If and when you do, you will find us with you every step of that journey.
